A Royal Proclamation

Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, Snow White....these were the princesses that filled my childhood. Ever since I was little I've always wanted to be a princess. And I think a lot of people, especially women are attracted to the royal world. For example, when William and Kate were married the world was captivated by the real life fairytale, a common girl met a prince, fell in love, and got married. Before William and Kate, there was a fascination with Princess Diana. Nowadays anytime a royal sneezes, we know about it because it's covered extensively in the media. However, something I've learned, I AM A PRINCESS! I have been one for most of my life. Granted I don't live in a palace, with servants, or designer clothes, but castles don't make the princess.

The Bible calls Jesus the King of Kings. The Bible also calls those who become Christians Sons and Daughters of Jesus. The children of a king are princes and princesses. So if Jesus is the King and I'm His daughter, that makes me by default a princess. Here are some cool things I've learned about being a princess :)

One of the roles of a princess is to be an ambassador for her country to another country and build relationships with the leadership and citizens there. As a princess for the King of the Heavenly Realm, I have become a representative for Jesus and have been given the task of creating relationships with the people of the Earthly Realm. It is my job to tell them about my King and show them how to become a member of our family.

Another thing that's cool about being a princess, princesses don't let themselves be bullied. Think about it, when the princess has the backing of the king, no one can say anything against her. She has the protection of the king's guards and if anyone thinks about getting near her....well let's just say it won't be pretty. As Jesus' princess, you have even more than that! You are a highly favored daughter of the King! He has extended every protection, every security, asset He has to you. Our biggest downfall is when we don't reach out and take hold of  what He wants to give us. So many times we allow the enemy to have the upper hand, we sabotage ourselves. Jesus stands ready to protect us, to give us peace, joy, hope, etc. But so often we forget who we are and who our Father really is. Instead of living confidently as a royal princess, we settle to live in the gutters scrounging around for the scraps of the things Jesus wants to freely give to us.

So whenever you begin to doubt or feel that you don't measure up, remember not just who you are but WHOSE you are. You are royalty! Jesus is your father! Even if you haven't grown up with a really great dad or mom, you have one in Jesus! Jesus loves you and wants nothing more than to tell you that every day! So when the lies come that tell you, you don't matter, that you don't have a hope, that you can't get through the next trial, tell that voice to get lost and listen to the one that really matters.

Jesus loves you! He thinks you're beautiful, amazing, and wants to show you so much. You are a highly favored daughter of the King of Kings! You are a princess! While you may not have a palace here on Earth, you're Father is building you a mansion in Heaven, and one day you will be able to live in a place equal to your royal status. Until then let's remember and work towards completing the mission that our King has given us here on Earth.

Final thoughts: Please keep in mind, that whatever I write here, I'm telling myself too because I daily need these reminders. And for all the dudes out there....I used the princess analogy in this post mainly cause I am one. However, the same message applies to you guys as well. You are a Son of the King. If you are a Christian you are a Prince of the Heavenly Realm. Don't ever forget that!

Another note, remember that good royal leaders were the ones who served their people. We have been given the mandate to serve others. So to be a Prince or Princess of the Heavenly Realm doesn't give us the right to treat others as inferior or be rude to people just because, we are designed to SERVE OTHERS.

Just for fun :)

Introducing Her Royal Highness,
Princess Andrea
Daughter of King Jesus of the Heavenly Realm

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
1 Peter 2:9-10 (MSG)

Seasons

I know this may come as a shock to some, but I'm not exactly the most patient person in the world.  While I'm pretty easy going about most things, one of my biggest pet peeves is traffic. It's the bane of my existence. I would rather take a lesser-known longer route, but stay moving than to have to endure the stop and go of a popular "shortcut".   Recently, I found myself in a BIG traffic jam. Two hours of inching along, the red glow of taillights illuminating the night sky. There were moments when I'd surge forward and move a few feet, but as quickly as the surge came, it went and my agonizing crawl resumed.     Life is like that sometimes. We seem to get "stuck" in a certain place. Whether it be a place of waiting, a place of suffering, or a place of busyness; whatever it may be, it feels that no matter what we do, we can't move forward and we can't go back.     We look around at our friends in other lanes and they seem to be zoomi...

A Season of Pruning

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.   He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes [ a ]  so that it will be even more fruitful." John 15:1-2 (NIV) In any flourishing garden, you know there's a skilled gardener working to keep the plants and trees looking nice and healthy. Every day he must work to ensure things like weeds, pests, fungi, etc. that could hurt or hinder the plants are removed.  Sometimes though, the plant itself becomes a hindrance to its own growth and it must be pruned.  Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines Prune as,  to cut off or cut back parts of for better shape or more fruitful growth   to cut away what is unwanted or superfluous While it may seem counterintuitive for the gardener to cut off parts of the plants and trees he's been working so hard to nurture and grow, it's actually vital to keeping the plant healthy. I'm not a gardener, b...

The Devil's Snare

Hermione Granger: "Stop moving! I know what this is — it's Devil's Snare!" Ronald Weasley: "Oh, I'm so glad we know what it's called, that's a great help." Hermione Granger: "Shut up, I'm trying to remember how to kill it!" Harry Potter: "Well, hurry up, I can't breathe!" — Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, and Ronald Weasley struggle with Devil's Snare In the last post I used an example from The Hunger Games, and while it is one of my favorite series, Harry Potter  is my ALL TIME favorite. I was watching the first movie over the weekend (for the millionth time) and there is a scene when the main three Harry, Ron, and Hermione become trapped in a vine like plant called Devil's Snare. In the story, the Devil's Snare was a plant that would seem benign and harmless until you fell into it. Once contact was made the plant would then wrap its tentacle-like vines around its prey and essentially squeeze ...
